Petit Pinceau

Who makes your Petit Pinceau books

Petit Pinceau is the two of us: Julien and Ilan, two software-engineer dads from the Paris area. We wanted our own kids to color something better than generic pictures, so we figured out how to turn a family photo into pages they could color. That became this: your memories printed as a personalised coloring book, made close to home and delivered to your door in a few days.

Why Petit Pinceau exists

The starting point is simple. Off-the-shelf coloring books feature characters you don't know. Photo books, on the other hand, don't invite you in: you flip through them, and that's it. Between the two, an object was missing. Something where each person finds their own family on pages they can color. Something you can step into with your pencils, instead of looking at from a distance.

How your photos become a book

Each photo runs through a five-step pipeline: mechanical preparation, line extraction by a specialised AI model, line simplification, page-by-page review, then layout and printing by a European partner. The review step is what sets our service apart from an automatic generator. It's what makes sure no distorted face and no broken line ever ends up in your book.

Details on the pipeline and the review step are in our article AI and personalised coloring.

Designed in France, printed close to you

Design, review and customer care happen at our Paris studio. Printing and binding are done on demand by our print partner, with production routed to the workshop closest to your delivery address. Orders delivered within France are printed in France in the vast majority of cases, though this routing isn't guaranteed for every single order. The inside paper is a 90 g/m² uncoated stock, sourced from sustainably managed forests, picked because it takes coloured pencils and water-based markers well. Alcohol markers bleed through and need a protection sheet. We say so in the FAQ. The binding depends on the format: stapled for the 6-photo book, hardback cover for the 12 and 24-photo books.

Your photos, what we do with them

Your photos are stored in Europe (Cloudflare R2, EU region) only for as long as we need them to make the book. They are never used to train any model, never shared with a third party, and kept for a maximum of 15 days, only during processing (generation, printing, delivery), then automatically deleted. Full details are in our privacy policy.
